CrossCode has been in regular development since the initial release of the demo (version 0.1.0) on December 1st, 2014. Pre-release versions were made available to those who obtained the game in early access. The game fully released as version 1.0.0 on September 20th, 2018, and continues to be regularly updated.
Official changelog notes for each version are shown in the following sections. Additional information is written in italics.

- + Added Perfect Guard. Guard at the right moment to nullify any damage. Some attacks might lead to new opportunities.
- + Added "Break" Status. This replaces the normal stun but has the same effect. The difference is that breaks can also be inflicted through Perfect Guards.
- + New dramatic effects A.K.A. FREEZE FRAMES. Yes, now we have them too. Finishing of the last wave of enemies or "Breaking" an enemy has a more powerful visual effect.
- + True Heat-Skilltree unlocked! The Heat Tree now feature some early skills including 4 new combat arts!
- New Skills added! We also changed up some skills. For instance: Charged and Speed Shot skills are now one single Skill called "Shooter".
